The Hocking County Sewer Department provides wastewater treatment services to the towns of Rockbridge, Haydenville, Carbon Hill, Murray City, and the Village of Lake-moor. Our duties include the operation and maintenance of multiple wastewater treatment plants in accordance with EPA policy, the maintenance of wastewater distribution systems, and cooperating with the public in wastewater related matters.
Please be aware that there are items that should not be flushed down the drain. These include but are not limited to:
- Flushable wipes and Baby wipes. Even “flushable” wipes should go in the trash. They do not disintegrate like toilet paper and will clog plumbing and pipes.
- Cooking Grease. Cooking grease should never be put down any sink or toilet drains. Grease solidifies when it cools and leads to tough blockages.
- Cigarettes. Cigarette butts build up with other debris as well as containing toxic chemicals that are harmful to our water.
- Feminine Products. These products absorb water and do not break down, causing blockages in plumbing.
- Rags, Bandages, or any Cloth. These items cause plumbing issues as they do not break down easily. Fabric materials will build up in pipes quickly and create tough blockages.
If there are any questions or concerns, please contact the Commissioner’s Office at (740) 385-5195.
